Rawlplug supports the construction of the Grand Egyptian Museum!

The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) is an ambitious project aimed not only at showcasing the cultural heritage of ancient Egypt but also at creating the largest archaeological museum in the world.

Architecture and design of the museum

The museum’s triangular structure was designed so that its northern and southern walls face the pyramids of Khufu and Menkaure. Its semi-translucent alabaster façade, a spacious atrium with colossal statues, and a plaza lined with date palms make it both a tribute to Egypt’s past and a symbol of modern architecture.

Museum functions – a space for all generations

The Grand Egyptian Museum offers more than just archaeological exhibitions. It will feature:

  • a dedicated children’s area,
  • a conference center,
  • a training institute,
  • workshops for international experts, providing a space for knowledge exchange, training, and collaboration among specialists from various fields.

As an international institution, GEM will serve as a global hub for museum collaboration, combining state-of-the-art technologies, such as virtual reality, with traditional cultural heritage displays.

Rawlplug products used in construction

During the construction of the museum, Rawlplug’s mechanical anchors played a crucial role in ensuring the precise and efficient execution of key structural elements.

This zinc-flake coated anchor is designed for use in cracked and non-cracked concrete. Its seismic category C1 and C2 rating makes it suitable for earthquake-prone areas. Additionally, its design allows for direct drilling and installation through the fixture, simplifying the installation process.

Featuring electro-galvanized coating, this anchor is optimized for non-cracked concrete. It enables efficient overhead installations, with depth markers for precise placement and a streamlined clip design for effective load distribution.

This zinc-coated anchor is ideal for multi-point applications. It is easy to install with a hammer and setting tool, and its high corrosion resistance combined with an internally threaded design ensures versatile use in various conditions.

As the world’s first mechanical expansion anchor, RAWLBOLT® continues to be a trusted solution in modern construction. Its three-segment expansion sleeve ensures even load distribution, and its compatibility with cracked and non-cracked concrete, hollow-core slabs, and ceramic materials makes it an exceptionally versatile anchoring system.
