Rawlplug solutions used in the second phase of the modern Access Towers investment in Colombo
Access Towers is one of the most recognizable construction projects in Sri Lanka. In the second phase of this prestigious development, Rawlplug solutions played a significant role. Read on to discover which products were used in the construction process.
First phase of the project – Access Tower I
The first phase of the investment was completed in 1998, with the construction of Access Tower I. This building quickly became a key landmark in Colombo, offering modern office and retail spaces.
Second phase of the project – Access Tower II
The second phase began in 2016, introducing Access Tower II, a 30-story modern office complex. The building was designed to combine functionality with aesthetics, while also being adapted to strict budget requirements.
The skyscraper stands out with its double-glazed solar-control façade and high-end interior finishes, including marble details, fire-resistant doors, and textured walls.
Investor, contractors, and construction costs
The main contractor for the project was Access Engineering PLC, working in collaboration with subcontractors, including Maxaire (Pvt) Ltd. The investor behind the project was Access Realties 2 (Pvt) Ltd, and the total construction cost amounted to approximately $12 million USD.
Rawlplug products used in the project
The construction of Access Tower II relied on advanced fastening technologies supplied by Rawlplug.
- R-DCA-10-40 galvanized wedge anchor – primarily used for installing cable trays and conduits. These anchors offer high performance in both cracked and non-cracked concrete, as confirmed by the European Technical Assessment (ETA). - R-XPT-12100/5 throughbolt anchors – used to secure the building’s façade. Their optimized design allows for high load-bearing capacities and enables drilling and installation directly through the fixture, significantly accelerating assembly work.
