The first metro line in Ho Chi Minh City with Rawlplug anchors!

Despite numerous delays and financial challenges, metro line was successfully completed and opened to passengers in December 2024. Rawlplug products played a key role in ensuring the safety of the infrastructure, contributing to the comfort of daily commuting. How did they impact the final results?

Metro Line 1, known as Bến Thành – Suối Tiên, is the first urban railway in Ho Chi Minh City's metro system, designed to improve mobility and reduce traffic congestion.

Metro Line 1 – a new symbol of urban transport

Spanning 19.7 km, the route consists of a 2.6 km underground section with three stations and a 17.1 km elevated section with eleven stations. The metro operates 17 modern trains, each capable of carrying up to 930 passengers. With speeds reaching 110 km/h on elevated sections and 80 km/h in tunnels, the metro has become fast and convenient means of transport in the city.

But it is more than just a way to avoid traffic. Modern stations and sleek train cars attract both residents and tourists, who frequently capture the city’s skyline from the metro. A ride on Line 1 is not just a quick trip between the eastern part of the city and its center – it’s a new experience that lets passengers see the city from a fresh perspective.

Interesting fact! In its first week of operation (December 22 – 29, 2024), the metro line recorded over 900,000 passenger trips. On average, the metro was used 113,500 times per day, reflecting the total number of journeys — many passengers took multiple trips throughout the day. On the weekend, the metro welcomed nearly 201,000 passengers, highlighting the high level of public interest in this new mode of transport.

Rawlplug products and their application

Ensuring metro safety starts from the ground up. Over 3,000 cartridges of R-KEX-II-600 epoxy resin anchor were used to treat defective couplers at underground stations, eliminating potential hazards.

But that’s not all. More than 50,000 R-HPTII-ZF throughbolt anchors support the installation of handrail systems on pedestrian bridges connecting elevated stations. Each anchor was designed to withstand daily loads while complementing the project's modern aesthetic. This is a perfect blend of functionality and design, visible in every detail.
