Rawlplug products as part of the largest tunnel investment in Poland
Our products have become an integral part of the S2 expressway tunnel in Warsaw, which, at the time of its completion, was the longest structure of its kind in Poland. The construction, widely known as the Tunnel under Ursynów, spans just over 2.3 km and was officially opened in December 2021. The completion of this investment marked the final stage of the construction of the Southern Bypass of Warsaw. This artery is part of the S2 route, connecting the Konotopa and Lubelska junctions of the A2 motorway. The Tunnel under Ursynów has not only reduced traffic congestion in the left-bank part of the capital but, most importantly, has facilitated and accelerated transit traffic on the east-west axis.
Modern infrastructure for millions of drivers
According to GDDKiA, in just four months, the tunnel had already been used by over 5.3 million vehicles. The journey through this section takes only five minutes, while the entire S2 route can be covered in less than half an hour. The Tunnel under Ursynów not only saves drivers time but also ensures safe transport. Traffic inside the tunnel is monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A total of 134 cameras have been installed inside and at the tunnel entrances, providing real-time footage that is continuously monitored by the Tunnel Management Center.
Comprehensive support at every stage of the project
As a supplier of construction materials, Rawlplug played an active role in the development of this project. Our experts selected the right solutions at the design stage and provided ongoing sales and technical support throughout the entire construction process of the Tunnel under Ursynów. During the planning phase, our proprietary EasyFix software was used. This tool enables quick and precise selection of anchoring products at the project stage while ensuring compliance with current construction norms and standards. Rawlplug engineers also conducted load-bearing capacity tests of the products and participated in every stage of the construction inspection process. It was the comprehensive range of services and a complete portfolio of anchors and fastenings that enabled Rawlplug to contribute to the creation of Poland’s longest road tunnel.
