This test was a bit different, but once again confirmed the quality and durability of Rawlplug fixings. This time, we tested how the Rawlbolt mechanical anchor performs in an Ackerman ceiling.

What is an Ackerman ceiling?

An Ackerman ceiling is a monolithic, ribbed slab structure where ceramic blocks serve as infill, while reinforced concrete ribs provide load-bearing capacity. The entire structure is bonded with an additional concrete layer, creating a solid and durable solution. It is lightweight, easy to install, and offers good acoustic insulation, making it a popular choice in residential construction. However, its installation requires formwork and temporary support, and its load-bearing capacity is limited compared to other systems. Despite this, due to its simplicity and favourable performance characteristics, it is widely used in single-family homes and multi-storey residential buildings.

Bricks in an Ackerman ceiling are a common sight in older buildings in Poland, but their load-bearing capacity can be a challenge when selecting the right fixings. Tests conducted using R-RBP anchors have shown that secure and durable fastening can be achieved even in demanding conditions. This proves that properly selected installation technologies enable safe and effective load transfer, even in less predictable substrates.

Rawlbolt R-RBP Anchor – the pioneer of mechanical anchors

The R-RBP segment anchor, known as RAWLBOLT®, is the world's first mechanical anchor – the predecessor of all subsequent fastening technologies of this type. Its three-segment expansion sleeve ensures excellent load capacity and stability, making it a reliable solution for various substrates, from concrete to ceramic elements.

A wide range of diameters (M6–M20) allows for flexible adaptation to different applications, such as the installation of steel structures, roller shutters, or fire doors. Additionally, ETA certification (Option 1) confirms its effectiveness in both cracked and non-cracked concrete.

R-RBP is synonymous with durability, safety, and versatility, also recommended where fire resistance is required.

Did you know that…

The Rawlbolt anchor was patented in 1934 as the world's first mechanical anchor – nearly 100 years ago! This was the moment when the Rawlplug name became synonymous with reliable fixings and innovation.
