On-site fixing test – R-KEXII chemical anchor with R-STUDS rod
Another construction challenge, another pull-out test, and another confirmation of the strength of Rawlplug products in the most demanding applications. The R-KEXII chemical anchor, combined with the R-STUDS threaded rod, is a duo that has been tested multiple times!
The construction of a bridge requires structural and building solutions with guaranteed, proven properties. This time, we carried out a pull-out test that was included in the investment execution contract. At the request of the site inspector, we tested one of our flagship duos – the R-KEXII anchor and the R-STUDS-16260-FL metric rod.
R-KEXII – a high-load chemical anchor based on epoxy resin
R-KEXII is a chemical anchor designed for the most demanding applications in both cracked and non-cracked concrete. The product is certified according to EAD 330087-00-0601 for rebar bonding in reinforced concrete structures and EAD 330499-02-0601 for use with threaded rods in cracked and non-cracked concrete, with durability of up to 100 years. It holds seismic approval in categories C1 and C2 and allows for both hammer drilling and diamond drilling.
The anchor can be used in dry, wet, and water-filled substrates, ensuring high parameter stability even at elevated temperatures. Its extended open time allows for precise setting of rods to a specified depth in challenging conditions, while the short curing time enables work to continue on the same day.
The R-STUDS-16260-FL threaded rod, designed for use with bonded anchors, is available in two variants – steel class 5.8 and high-strength carbon steel class 10.9. The class 10.9 version, with increased tensile strength and higher yield strength, is particularly well-suited for outdoor applications and environments exposed to atmospheric conditions. These rods can be used for dowel connections or for joining walls to foundations, providing high durability and wear resistance. An additional advantage is the hexagonal end, which allows the use of a torque wrench for precise tightening.
See the on-site test report.
According to ETA-21/0244, the declared characteristic load capacity for the maximum embedment depth of the R-STUDS 5.8 rod in size M20, using the R-KEX-II chemical anchor in non-cracked C20/25 concrete, is as high as 122 kN.
