R-KER II now ETA-approved for seismic category C2!
The R-KER II resin anchor combines high load-bearing capacity with exceptional resistance to dynamic loads, especially under seismic conditions. With top performance in seismic category C2, it is an ideal choice for use in seismic zones and demanding structural applications.
R-KER II hybrid resin anchor, based on vinyl ester, has now been approved for seismic load category C2. This marks another step forward in the development of our product range, offering even greater safety and reliability in the most demanding construction conditions. The European Technical Assessment (ETA) now includes load-bearing parameters for use with threaded rods – a key advantage for building in seismic zones. By combining advanced technology with outstanding durability, this product allows us to respond even more effectively to market demands for dynamic load performance.
Seismic testing of construction fixings
Seismic activity generates powerful dynamic forces that cause buildings to vibrate, placing considerable stress on their structure. These tremors can lead to deformations, displacements, and microcracks in walls, floors, and foundations, altering the shape and position of structural elements. As a result, the overall integrity of a building may be compromised, potentially leading to the failure of critical connections or even a full structural collapse. In extreme cases, the use of inadequate fixing solutions can pose serious risks to both people and property. That’s why it is essential for fixings used in seismic zones to be specifically designed and tested for such demanding conditions.
Modern resin anchors are engineered to absorb energy and dissipate stress effectively – both of which are vital during seismic events. Advanced resin formulations are developed to maintain their mechanical properties even under intense vibrations, helping to ensure the durability and stability of the structure. These chemical anchors are used not only in new construction, but also in renovation and structural reinforcement projects, allowing older buildings to be upgraded in line with current seismic standards.

R-KER II resin anchor – specifications and benefits
Today’s highlight: the R-KER II chemical anchor – a product that delivers top-tier quality, proven reliability and high resistance to dynamic loads. This is a hybrid anchor based on styrene-free vinyl ester resin, making it not only exceptionally strong, but also safer and more environmentally friendly to use.
- The R-KER II is certified for post-installed rebar connections in reinforced concrete structures (EAD 330087-00-0601), as well as for applications with threaded rods, internally threaded sleeves and ribbed bars in both cracked and non-cracked concrete (EAD 330499-02-0601), with a service life of up to 100 years. It is available in three versions – standard, winter and summer – allowing the resin’s curing time to be adjusted to specific application conditions for all-season use.
- The anchor also holds seismic approvals for both C1 and C2 categories, meaning it is suitable for structures exposed to seismic activity. In addition, a fire performance report is available, providing insight into how the product behaves in fire conditions – a valuable asset for securing approvals from investors and building inspectors.
- The R-KER II stands out for its exceptional versatility – it can be used in dry, wet and water-filled holes. Its high load-bearing capacity ensures long-term durability and efficiency, making it the perfect solution for the most demanding construction environments.
Committed to Rawlplug product quality
In today’s fast-moving construction industry, continuous product development is essential to remain competitive and maintain a strong position in the market. At Rawlplug, we fully understand this need – which is why we go far beyond the basic testing and documentation required by law. We recognise that meeting customer expectations means delivering products of the highest quality.
That’s why, in addition to standard testing, our products undergo extensive additional assessments to confirm their outstanding performance and suitability for use in demanding environments. They are certified not only for static loads, but also for seismic performance, fire resistance and compliance with a wide range of international standards.
Certifications for Rawlplug resin anchors – overview
Relentless focus on quality and precision engineering ensures that Rawlplug resin anchors are widely recognised across the construction industry. Each certification confirms that our products meet both national and international standards – including seismic performance, fire resistance, long-term durability and more.
Below is a comprehensive overview of key certifications granted to our resin anchors, supporting their use across a wide range of construction applications:
- Seismic certification (C1, C2) - confirms that the anchors have been tested for resistance to dynamic loads generated during earthquakes. These anchors help maintain structural stability even under intense seismic vibrations. → Explore Rawlplug products with seismic testing.
- Fire resistance testing - anchors that undergo fire testing receive certification confirming their performance at elevated temperatures. This information is vital for understanding how long the anchor retains its load capacity in the event of a fire, enabling their use in fire-rated structural applications. → Explore Rawlplug products with fire resistance certification.
- Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) content - certification of low VOC emissions confirms that the product releases minimal harmful substances into the air – a crucial factor for user health and environmental protection. Anchors meeting these standards are suitable for indoor use and spaces requiring high air quality.
- Hygienic certificate - confirms the product is safe for use in environments with strict microbiological and chemical cleanliness requirements, such as food processing plants, pharmaceutical facilities or water supply systems. It also guarantees the product is safe for use in contact with drinking water.
