Clamping force: 450 tons. More figurative? Imagine 75 adult African elephants standing on a mold.

What does the plastic injection process look like?

  • Preparing plastic pellets for injection (including drying)
  • Material transport: The material is fed into the hopper on the machine.
  • Plasticizing: the pellets are heated to a high temperature
  • Injection: plasticized material is injected under high pressure into molds
  • Molding: the material cools in the mold and stabilizes its dimensions to form a single unit.
  • Opening the mold: Once the mold has solidified, it is opened and the finished part is removed.
  • Mold precision: molds must be made with high precision to avoid defects on the surface of the part.
  • Quality control: Any imperfection in the mold can be reflected in the finished part, which is critical to the quality of the final product.
  • Clamping force: The entire process requires machines with high clamping force (from 10 tons to several thousand tons), depending on the size of the molds.

Bigger can do more

Until recently, the largest machine in Rawlplug's fleet had a clamping force of 300 tons. The new machine from Wittmann, a long-time partner, surpasses it not only in size, but also in pressure.

The injection molding machine with a clamping force of 450 tons significantly expands our production capabilities. The new machine allows us to design larger molds and reduce problems caused by insufficient clamping force. Among other things, we are now using it to produce SKU's that used to run on a 300-ton machine, allowing us to make even greater use of our potential.

Destiny: new powertools

Despite its impressive dimensions, the injection molding machine has a compact design - it fits perfectly into the modern machine park at Rawlplug's headquarters in Wroclaw. Its improved technical parameters allow it to produce more complex and production demanding details, which is and will be crucial, if only in the context of the further development of Rawlplug's power tool segment.

It increases our production flexibility. And this is extremely important in view of the projects we have planned for the near future, which are a direct result of our innovation-oriented strategy and the needs and requirements of our customers, who are growing with us.
