Site fastening test - R-TFIX-8S polystyrene and wool fixings
Another day on site means another test to check our products. A professional test with a pull-out tester is the most effective way of verifying the strength of fastenings. This time, we put our top-of-the-range T-TFIX-8S polystyrene and wool fixings to the test.
Fixings for polystyrene and wool (facade fixings) are one of the most frequently tested product groups in the Rawlplug range. Builders want to be sure that an installation made using them will withstand both the weight of the facade and the loads caused by wind suction forces.

The R-TFIX-8S polystyrene and wool fixing is an advanced fastener dedicated to insulation systems (ETICS), ideal for installation in polystyrene and mineral wool. Thanks to its unique anchorage zone design, it allows high loads to be carried with a minimum number of anchorages per m². The pre-assembled components ensure quick and easy installation on a variety of substrates (A, B, C, D, E). The anchor features high plate stiffness (0.6 kN/mm), which increases the stability of the insulation system, effectively counteracting wind suction forces. The optimised design reduces point thermal transmittance (0.001-0.002 W/K), minimising heat loss at the facade. The compression zone allows precise application, guaranteeing the best performance even with a reduced anchoring zone of 25 mm. The R-TFIX-8S fixing can be used in conjunction with the R-KWL pressure plate, increasing the durability of the completed thermal insulation.

According to ETA-17/0161, the declared characteristic load capacity for R-TFIX-8S dowels, depending on the fixing substrate, is between 0.9 and 1.5 kN.
