The longest and widest tunnel in Maharashtra built with Rawlplug!

At the heart of this project is the Igatpuri tunnel – the longest in Maharashtra (8.6 km) and also the widest in the region (17.5 m). Rawlplug's innovative solutions were integral to the successful completion of this tunnel.

Advanced technologies – Rawlplug's contribution

The execution of this demanding project, led by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), was made possible through Rawlplug's cutting-edge solutions and technological expertise. Tunnel construction required advanced anchoring systems capable of withstanding extreme conditions and high dynamic loads. Our products provided effective stabilization of the tunnel structure, preventing displacements and ensuring long-term safety.

Chemical anchors R-KER-II-400

• Paired with M8 and M10 threaded rods in shotcrete (sprayed concrete).
• Certified for use in cracked and non-cracked concrete, ensuring durable fixing even in wet environments.

Chemical anchors R-KEM-II-410

R-SC40II – gas nailer for concrete and steel

• The second-generation gas-powered nailer was used to fix wire meshes in the second layer of fire-resistant shotcrete.

KSC nails 17 mm and 19 mm

• Over 6 million nails used for securing wire meshes and other structural components, providing robust and reliable connections.

Rawlplug's solutions effectively minimized risks associated with vibrations and structural shifts, a critical factor in seismically active regions.

Collaboration with Afcons Infrastructure Ltd.

Rawlplug partnered with Afcons Infrastructure Ltd., one of India's largest infrastructure contractors, as well as several local subcontractors. Our technology and technical support enabled the execution of over 12 pullout tests and 30 demonstrations of SC40II tools!

Our close collaboration with the contractors proved invaluable. Regular training sessions and quick tool servicing ensured smooth operations on-site, overcoming challenges such as dust and minor malfunctions. Notably, team members Roshan Dalvi and Tejas Bhalekar excelled in providing fast repairs and replacements, reducing SC40II servicing times to just 48 hours. Their dedication significantly boosted project efficiency, ensuring timely completion.
