Rawlplug products used in the modernization of the Kielce railway station!
After more than half a century of operation, the railway station required comprehensive modernization to meet contemporary standards. In 2021, a decision was made to renovate the facility, making it part of one of the most ambitious investments within the Railway Investment Program for 2016–2023.
The renovation of the station was carried out with great respect for its original architecture, preserving the characteristic division into three sections – a glazed central zone and two brick side wings. While the original structure remained intact, the building underwent a complete transformation in both aesthetics and functionality.
A modern facade with a historical touch
The central part of the facade was fully glazed, creating a sleek, seamless surface. The side wings were finished with a combination of glass and sandstone, giving the building a refined, modern look. An eye-catching night illumination enhances the station’s aesthetics, while illuminated signage featuring the station's name was installed on the top of the building, both on the city-facing side and the platform side, reinforcing its distinctive presence.
An interior with elegant details
The main passenger service area was designed around a spacious 500 m² hall that also serves as a waiting area. The interior combines bright walls and glass storefronts with a contrasting dark terrazzo floor. A black, slatted ceiling with integrated linear lighting fixtures adds character to the space, complemented by decorative circular light fittings in select areas. An eco-friendly design element is the presence of green walls covered with reindeer moss, one of which is located at the entrance to the children's play area. This space features wall-mounted games, an interactive tower with a screen, and a colorful mural that children can draw on using erasable markers.
A functional layout for passenger and staff convenience
The ground floor of the station houses the waiting area, restrooms, ticket offices, a children's corner, and spaces designated for commercial establishments. The side wings and upper floors of the central section have been adapted into offices for railway employees and municipal officials. The interior layout was designed to ensure smooth and collision-free passenger movement, providing seamless access between the city, the underground passage, and the platforms.

During the station's reconstruction, our solutions played a key role in ensuring the durability of both the roof and the ventilated facade. For the roof installation, R-GOK telescopic sleeves were used in combination with R-WBT roofing screws. Made from high-impact-resistant material, these sleeves maintain consistent mechanical properties throughout the entire lifespan of the roof, even under extreme temperature conditions.
R-XPT throughbolt anchors were utilized, ensuring high load-bearing capacity while maintaining cost efficiency. Their through-installation method allows for quick and precise anchoring, and the embedment depth markings help ensure accurate installation.
Additionally, R-FF1 frame fixing were employed in key structural areas. Their multi-axis expansion design ensures maximum stability, while the specially-formulated nylon composition provides the best performance across all base material categories (A, B, C, D) according to ETAG 020, making them an exceptionally versatile solution for various mounting conditions.
